Friday...what the hell kept you?

Leopard print satin blouse: Op-shop
Jeans: Op-shop
Cardigan: Cotton On
Ankle boots: Williams
Necklace: Amway, bought from a guy that sells it at work

This week was horrific. A four day security audit, one-on-one meeting with the CEO, dozens of catered meetings to set up for and clean up afterwards and a bad run of luck with online clothing purchases left me utterly drained and extremely cranky.

Tonight beer, great company and great food went a long way in restoring my good spirits.

Dress: Op-shop
Shirt masquerading as blazer: Gifted
Fishnets: Target
Ankle boots: Williams

This dress is a bit tight around my middle (it's an AU8 and even spandex has its limits) so I wanted to wear something over the top. It was too warm for a blazer or a cardigan, so I tried my fitted black shirt and I got the effect I was after. Next time I'll add a statement necklace though, this pic has convinced me that the silver chain was too subtle.

I wore fishnets all day and caught nothing but stares.

Why I plan to wear fishnets at the office ALL summer:

1) The open weave keeps legs cool

2) They have a slimming, sculpting effect

3) Reduced visibility of lazy razor work

4) I enjoy the irony of being told they are too sexy for the office although I'm revealing less flesh than my bare-legged counterparts.

Maxi #3.

Black maxi: Jay Jays
Denim jacket: Op-shop
Flats: Target

Worn to dinner in Subi with Anthony and Kelly, who's just back from a UK jaunt. Had to cut the evening short because I've been struck down with the flu.

Black & white maxi #2.

Maxi dress: Target
Cardigan: Portmans

Another black & white maxi. I couldn't help myself when I saw it in Target. It's longer than the first one I bought and ended up shortening to knee length but still not quite as long as I'd like.

The haircut of crapness.

Satin leopard print blouse: Op-shop
Cardi: Portmans
Fishnets: Target

So I went in for a trim on Saturday and showed my hairdresser this picture.

Obviously I need to grow the back out a bit, which is fair enough, but I wasn't expecting her to so brutally hack away the tapered front bits. Because my hair is so thick it needs a bit of extra length to lie nicely and now it just looks...like a helmet.

Luckily it grows pretty fast, but it spoiled my Monday. I know it's just hair but, you know.

Day Three.

Brown striped button-up shirt: Op-shop
Black pencil skirt: Valley Girl
Fishnets: Target
Heels: Myer

Day three of my new exercise program and I'm feeling good. I was going for an 'empowered' look here but it comes across kinda smug. It was the best photo though, so I'm posting it :)

Shortened maxi.

Further to my last post, I decided I had nothing to lose by hemming the dress. What do you guys think - did I make the right decision??

I tried out a different pair of shoes in each pic.

The maxi dress of awkward length.

Maxi dress: Target
Cardigan: Portmans
Flats: Target

Love, love, love the fit and cut and print on this dress, but I don't like where the hem sits. If only it was an inch longer! I may shorten it to knee length.

Deadly treadly.

We just bought a second hand treadmill on ebay! I am extraordinarily excited. We pick it up on Saturday. I hope it doesn't suck.

I've had an exercise bike for years which I still use, but I want to run. I tried running at night with my husband under cover of darkness (that way no strangers got to witness my red face, lack of grace and slowly spreading damp spots) but I want the freedom of being able to run by myself, whenever I want, dressed how I like.

I don't want to get too much smaller than I am now but I would like to firm up. It's possible I already have some nice muscleage going on - I lifted light weights for a bit and I do a lot of incidental walking and stair climbing - but I can't tell because of the layer of flab covering them.

My plan is to walk/run at least twenty minutes a night, increasing the ratio of running to walking each time.

Marvellous Monday.

Pencil skirt: Op-shop
Black shirt: Gifted
Belt: Target
Necklace: Gifted
Boots: ebay

This isn't my favourite way I've worn this skirt but I was happy enough with it.

I have nothing much to say at the moment...how dull! Busy with work, projects, and...life in general. Dressing has been less creative and more functional.

The top of versatility.

Zebra print top: Target
Black bangle: Amway
Jeans: Just Jeans
Flat ankle boots: Target
